Miss Sam has an extensive background in the dance industry. She has trained at prestigious dance studios in Toronto, Hamilton and Burlington. She has completed all of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing exams in the Cecchetti method of ballet. Also, achieving honors in her exams in jazz at the Canadian Dance Teachers Association. Miss Sam is also a member of Dance Ontario and has over 10 years of experience teaching dance. Her goal as a teacher/choreographer is to create an environment that results in continuous growth, improvement, and brings her students’ talents and abilities to new heights. Miss Sam continues to update her teaching techniques and knowledge by regularly attending workshops with Internationally acclaimed choreographers. She is excited to bring her dynamic personality to The Smithville Dance Academy and also proud to provide inspirational and exceptional training to her students.
- What inspired you to open your own dance studio?
I want to do things differently. I grew up loving my dance studio. It Inspired me to want more for myself. I was proud to be apart of an extended dance family. I want to bring all of that back to the dance industry. I would love to give this to my studio families.
- Who is your biggest inspiration?
Kids, I love their honesty, and the way they look at life. When I am teaching them, I feel like a kid again.
- Name one great moment in your life.
I know this may sound crazy but one of the greatest moments of my life was the day I got into an a serious car accident with my family. We were hit head on by a school bus on a highway going 100km/hour. I had no idea how strong I was until I faced that. It made me realize that I really could face anything, I was no long scared about certain things in life.
- Describe a perfect day.
My perfect day would consist of spending the day with my family. Backyard BBQ’s are a family favourite as we get to truly enjoy time together and have a lot of fun playing games such as badminton or bocce ball.
- If your friends could describe you in three words, what words would they choose?
First they would say; extremely spontaneous, I love following the flow of life. Second, passionate, it is my core, you will see that in just about everything I do. Lastly, humorous, I think my friends would say I have a unique sense of humour and can just about find something any situation in life to smile about.
- What type of music do you listen to?
I actually love all types of music, from classical to country. You will catch me at the studio listening to a wild mix of music.
- Would you rather go to the beach or the mountains?
Ah, the beach, in my whole entire life, not one bad moment was ever had at the beach. Nature is my go to when life gets crazy.
