Did you know that after Miss Kendra traveled the world touring as an actor and as a dancer, she was the Artistic Director for a professional dance company in Toronto? Graduates of Ryerson and York University came to work with Miss Kendra under a collective, performing in different shows around Toronto. Miss Kendra has choreographed and produced two full length contemporary dance shows for the Toronto Fringe Festival and loves teaching dance. For the last five years, she has been dedicated to the Niagara Region and focused on inspiring and sharing her love of dance with the next generation.
- How did you first get into dance?
While other children were playing outside, I was always in my basement creating dances with my friends. My mother one day asked me if I would like to join a new studio that had opened up in my hometown and I agreed. I immediately felt a connection to dance. Dance is a great tool in life and I use to to express myself. I don’t know where I would be without dance.
- Name one great moment in your life.
One great professional moment in my life was; being a big part of changing one little boy’s life when I was performing with Mad Science in Florida. I can make people happier through dance, I can reach them through storytelling. Miracles can happen and they do everyday.
- Describe a perfect day.
My perfect day would consist of spending time with my kid, my dog Parker and my family. Dancing and listening to music. The day would end with a comfy place to snuggle up with a good book. I love to read!
- If your friends could describe you in three words, what words would they choose?
They would say that I am determined, funny, and passionate. There isn’t much that I will let stand in my way when there is something that I want.
- What type of music do you listen to?
I like to listen to all types of music, but my favorite types of music are pop, rock and r&b.
- Would you rather go to the beach or the mountains?
The beach! I love swimming in the ocean and feeling the sand between my toes.
